Crofter Keith MacDonald returns to South America—a continent he lived and worked in a decade ago.
This time, he’s on a journey to uncover the story of the Scots who emigrated there over a century earlier, including one of his own ancestors. In this episode, Keith travels through Chilean Patagonia, joining a traditional sheep drive across dramatic landscapes. He learns to tame wild horses, attempts to capture a wild bull, and ventures into Torres del Paine National Park to track elusive pumas and observe baby guanacos up close. His journey culminates in Punta Arenas, where he reconnects with relatives in the far south of the continent.
In 2026 “Patagonia: A Journey to the End of the World” has been shortlisted for an award at the Celtic Media Festival.
It was an incredible journey traveling across all the locations for this project, spanning both the Argentina and Chile episodes — a long trip filled with unforgettable stories and extraordinary people. Together with Faye and Peggy, we built the entire pre-production from the ground up, conducting in-depth research and sourcing the right talent and interviewees to shape the narrative.
Our role covered every stage of the process, including logistics, research and talent sourcing, full pre-production, fixer services, the temporary import of gear, and preparing letters of invitation.
A truly remarkable experience from start to finish.
