The Dream Factory

BRIEF

The Dream Factory is an ESPN investigative documentary that examines Argentina’s world-renowned youth soccer system. While it has produced some of the greatest players in the sport, the film reveals a darker reality in which young athletes pursuing their dreams can face neglect, unsafe living conditions, abuse, and a lack of oversight. Led by Steve Fainaru, the documentary follows one player’s journey while exploring the systemic failures that leave thousands of aspiring footballers vulnerable within one of the world’s most celebrated talent pipelines. The investigation, years in the making, raises broader questions about accountability and the responsibility of clubs, regulators, and adults entrusted with protecting young athletes.

SERVICES

Over eight years, Fixer Argentina supported ESPN’s The Dream Factory and even coproduced it. Our local crew was in charge of filming it entirely. The work included extensive research, location scouting, nationwide logistics, travel coordination, interview production, permit management, equipment, and access to key contributors, including judges, prosecutors, politicians, football officials, current and former players, and other essential sources. From the earliest stages of the investigation through the final production, we delivered end-to-end support.
